#NCCUWBB Begins Busy February at FAMU Monday


DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team has nine games schedule in the last full month of the regular season and will begin its stretch run with a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference class at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, on Monday at 6 p.m.
 
Fans who cannot attend the game in the Al Lawson Center, can listen to the MEAC showdown on the NCCU Sports Network, with Jonathan Duren on the air for the play-by-play. Video ($) will also be provided by FAMU.

SERIES: The two teams split last year's season series with the home team winning each contest. NCCU won the first encounter in Durham, 59-48, on Feb. 2 but then lost in Tallahassee, 65-58, on Feb. 16. FAMU leads the series 8-2.
 
NCCU (3-14, 2-5) remained winless on the road this season after suffering a 66-56 setback at Delaware State on Wednesday. The Lady Eagles got a couple good performances out of two freshmen in that game with guard Dominique Adams scoring a season-high 14 points and Deja McCain grabbing a season-high nine rebounds. Junior guard Morgan Jones continues to lead NCCU with 11.6 points, 2.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Seniors Tisha Dixon and Kristin Askew follow Jones in the scoring department with 9.9 and 8.1 points per game, respectively. Dixon paces the Lady Eagles on the boards with 7.1 rebounds per contest. Jones and Askew continue to pour in 3-pointers with both players ranked in the top-10 of the conference in made treys per game.
 
FAMU (10-10, 4-3) is coming off a 67-60 road loss at Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. The Rattlers, who are the highest scoring team in the league at 64.8 points per game, are one of three MEAC women's basketball teams with a .500 or better overall record. Senior Olivia Antilla is FAMU's top scorer at 15.2 points per game and she leads the MEAC with 49 made 3-pointers (2.5 per game). Classmate Khadejra Young adds 14.1 points per game and a team-best 7.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals (leads MEAC) per game. Junior Cedricka Sweetingi also averages double digits with 10.4 points per game.
