LIVE STATS SERIES: Hampton leads the all-time series 18-2 and has won 11 consecutive games over NCCU. The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Eagles, 75-36, in Hampton, Virginia last season.
NCCU (3-12, 2-3) picked up its second straight home win on Saturday, edging Norfolk State 63-62 by shooting a season-best 42.1-percent, and is 3-2 in McDougald-McLendon Arena. Junior
Morgan Jones scored a career-high 25 points and made four steals. Jones leads the Lady Eagles with 11.7 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game and is averaging 16 points per game in league play. Senior forward
Tisha Dixon contributes 11.7 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds per contest. Senior
Kristin Askew has scored in double figures in each of NCCU's last six games to increase her season average to 7.5 points per game. Askew and Jones are combining for about three made 3-pointers per game.
HAMPTON (5-12, 3-1) is just a half game behind Morgan State for the top spot in the MEAC standings after knocking off North Carolina A&T, 55-52, on Saturday. The Lady Pirates won the regular season title last season and has won five of the last six MEAC Tournament Championships. Junior guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas is the reigning league Player of the Year and is averaging 18.9 points (2nd in the MEAC), 6.2 rebounds (17th), 2.6 assists (6th), and 2.2 steals (2nd). Sophomore Kaylah Lupoe is second on the team with 9.4 points per game and paces the Lady Pirates with 7.9 rebounds per game. Hampton tops the conference with a +3.35 turnover margin.
