BOX SCOREDURHAM, N.C. – The upper half of North Carolina Central University's singles lineup all won in both singles and doubles as the Lady Eagles knocked off Western Carolina University, 5-2, in non-conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the NCCU Tennis Courts.

Aissa Muamba and seniors
Rebecca Wood and
Ekaterina Nekrasova were the victorious Lady Eagles playing from No. 1-3 in the lineup, respectively. Wood (6-2, 6-3) had the most decisive win to level her overall record to 8-8.
Muamba knocked off the Catamounts top player and wins leader in Megan McLinden (10-7) by a score of 7-6 (6), 6-4. Nekrasova had to work the hardest for her victory winning in a three-set thriller that finished 6-3, 6-7, 11-9.
Muamba and Nekrasova both improved to 11-6.
The Lady Eagles won four of six singles matches with sophomore
Lynsey Cover picking up a default win as Western Carolina only had five active players. Erin Maguire and Montse Mesalles tallied the Catamounts two points with Maguire winning in straight sets and Mesalles needing to rally to defeat NCCU freshman
Jamie Rogers by a score of 1-6, 7-6 (6), 11-9.
Nekrasova and Wood partnered together for an 8-2 win and Muamba teamed up with fellow junior
Mia Ramic for an 8-6 win as the Lady Eagles swept doubles. WCU forfeited the final doubles contest.
NCCU next visits Longwood University on Saturday, April 4 with a revised start time of 2:30 p.m. in Farmville, Virginia.
