BOX SCOREPETERSBURG, Va. – The North Carolina Central University men's tennis team won 76 of 77 games played to coast to a 7-0 non-conference victory over fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe University of Maryland Eastern Shore in a neutral site duel on the campus of Virginia State University Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles, who have won four of their last six matches, improved to 7-8 overall. The Hawks had to forfeit the bottom singles and doubles matches with an active roster of five before slipping to 0-3.

Thomas Persico all disposed of their opposition by matching unblemished 6-0, 6-0 scores. Gerasimov (13-1) continued his impressive final season with his 13th straight win. East (10-5) reached the 10-win plateau while Persico (4-5) and Kienka (3-6) both got back into the win column.
In a battle of two freshmen playing atop each squads lineup, Michael Cha picked up the Hawks only game win but it was NCCU's
Kert Kilumets that dominated the match winning 6-0, 6-1. Kilumets (7-6) moved back over .500 with his triumph.
The Eagles rolled to a pair of 8-0 wins in the top two doubles matches. East partnered with Kienka on the first court and senior
Jamal Hoyte teamed up with sophomore
Kyle Hairston in the second match.
NCCU next visits local Shaw University for a 1 p.m. match in Raleigh on Thursday.
