BOX SCOREDURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team was unable to remain unbeaten at home in suffering a 5-2 non-conference loss to UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
Senior
Ekaterina Nekrasova and junior
Mia Ramic highlighted play for the Lady Eagles with wins in the middle two positions in the lineup.
Nekrasova tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 to improve to 10-5 overall with her fourth straight win. Ramic knocked off her opponent 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot.
NCCU dipped to 4-11 overall while the Bulldogs improved to 12-3.
Despite a 6-2 win in the top doubles match by Nekrasova and fellow senior
Rebecca Wood, UNC Asheville earned the team doubles point with the wins in the other two bouts.
Wood started off strong in her No. 2 singles match but eventually lost 0-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Lady Bulldogs won the other three singles points in straight sets.
NCCU next hosts Campbell University on Monday at 3 p.m.
