Game Notes (PDF) DURHAM, N.C. – After a month off from conference play, the North Carolina Central University men's basketball team will reopen conference action at home Saturday, Jan. 10 against South Carolina State University at 4 p.m. at McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
NCCU (10-5, 2-0 MEAC) defeated IUPUI in their last contest 70-49 on Dec. 29 and were led by
Dante Holmes with 15 points, and
Nimrod Hilliard with 13 points and five assists.
The Eagles enter Saturday's game with a pair of players leading the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference statistically. Senior guard
Nimrod Hilliard (Madison, Wis.) tops the league in assists, averaging 5.6 helpers per game, while senior forward
Jordan Parks (Queens, N.Y.) leads the conference in field goal percentage at a rate of 64.5 percent and is also seventh in points per game with 14.9.
SC State (4-12, 2-0) comes to Durham on the back of a loss to Eastern Kentucky by a score of 63-52 on Jan. 3. Junior forward Darryl Palmer (Summerville, S.C.) led the Bulldogs with 18 points in that contest.
NCCU leads the conference in points per game, averaging 70.9 points per game, while SC State lies ninth with 58.1 points per game, tied with North Carolina A&T.
The Eagles hold the all-time series advantage over SC State 26-19, winning their last matchup by a score of 86-44 in Durham on March 1, 2014.
