NCCU WOMEN’S TENNIS GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE WITH CHARLOTTE DURING ROAD LOSS

Lady Eagles Drop 4-3 Battle to 49ers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team dropped its second-straight match as the Lady Eagles (4-12) suffered a 4-3 loss to the UNC Charlotte 49ers (7-11) on Wednesday, April 9 in Charlotte, N.C., at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

The 49ers started the afternoon by garnering the doubles point, as they posted victories against the NCCU pairings at the No. 2 and 3 spots.

Victoria Pahlett and Macy Vonderschmidt defeated the Lady Eagle's sophomore duo of Aissa Muamba and Mia Ramic at the No. 2 position, tallying the 8-1 triumph, while Charlotte's No. 3 twosome of Tyler Baker and Jessica Pérez registered an 8-4 decision over rookies Lynsey Cover and Tamara Jeremic.

After dropping the doubles point NCCU and the 49ers split singles action.

Muamba battled out a 7-6 (10-8), 4-6, 10-2 victory over Lisa Grosselius at the No. 2 spot, Ramic cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Perez at the No. 5 and Cover collected the 7-5, 6-2 victory during the No. 6 match rounding out the Lady Eagles three points.

NCCU returns to the courts on Thursday, April 10 as the Lady Eagles look to defend their two-year home win streak hosting the North Carolina A&T Aggies at 5 p.m. on the NCCU Tennis Courts.
