Box ScoreDURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback after the Eagles hosted the Boston College Eagles, welcoming their first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to the NCCU Tennis Courts on Saturday, April 5.
BC captured the doubles point after Philip Nelson and Matt Wagner defeated the host Eagles
Daniil Gerasimov and
Stephan Charles-Donatien 8-3 at the No. 1 spot and the Jonathan Raude/Alexandre Thirouin duo beat NCCU's
William East and
Tamina Kienka 8-6.
During singles competition BC swept through competition as No. 1 Nelson was victorious over Gerasimov (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), Raude beat Charles-Donatien (7-5, 6-2) at the No. 2, Adien McNulty defeated NCCU's Jamal Hoyet (6-0, 6-2) in the three spot, the host Eagles East fell to Hank Workman during No. 4 singles (6-1, 4-6, 6-1), at the No. 5 Kyle Childree defeated
Fabrice George (6-3, 6-1) and NCCU's
Thomas Persico suffered a 7-5, 6-2 shortcoming against Wagner at the No. 6 seed.
The Eagles return to action on Friday, April 11 when NCCU welcomes Shaw University to the NCCU Tennis Courts for the Eagles "Senior Day" beginning at 1 p.m.
