Box Score 2 DURHAM, N.C. – In the bottom of the seventh during game one, junior Emerie Germ (Canton, Ga.) scored her sister London Germ (Canton, Ga.) from second base, with two outs, pushing the North Carolina Central University softball team to a 3-2 victory as the Lady Eagles split day one with the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers, dropping game two 4-0, on Friday, April 18 at Parkwood Athletic Field in Durham.
During the first match-up the Lady Rattlers scored first taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, Angelique Perricelli (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) opened the inning reaching first base on an error by the FAMU shortstop.
After advancing to second on a passed ball, Emerie Germ sent Perricelli to third on a single to left field. Junior Martha Batie's (Harrisburg, Pa.) shot to left field was dropped in the air as she scored Perricelli and Germ giving the Lady Eagles the 2-1 lead.
FAMU's two hits in the top of the seventh scored one run for the Lady Rattlers, knotting the score at two heading into the bottom half of the final inning.
After a lead-off strike out, London Germ singled to short stop for NCCU.
Perricelli advanced Germ into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt to first base.
With two outs and London Germ on second base, Emerie Germ singled to right field, scoring her sister, and giving the Lady Eagles the 3-2 edge during game one.
Sophomore London Booker (Richmond, Va.) collected her fifth victory in the circle during the match-up as she threw the entire seven innings for NCCU facing 32 batters, giving up seven hits, two earned runs and one walk while fanning six at the plate.
During game two, although the Lady Eagles earned six hits, they were unable to convert as they were shutout 4-0.
Rookie Dominque Wilson (Mooresville, N.C.)spent all seven innings in the circle for NCCU during game two giving up nine hits, four earned runs and seven walks during her 26 batters faced while striking out an impressive nine Lady Rattlers.
The Lady Eagles return to the diamond tomorrow, April 19 as they look to win the series over FAMU during the three-game finale. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Parkwood Athletic Field.
