CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team earn its second road-victory of the season as the Lady Eagles defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 5-2 on Saturday, March 21 in Cullowhee, N.C., at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
NCCU captured the doubles point after sophomores
Aissa Muamba and
Mia Ramic defeated WCU's Shannon Bettiol/Erin Maguire duo (8-2) at the No. 2 spot and Lady Eagle's juniors
Rebecca Wood and
Ekaterina Nekrasova beat Stacia Kissell/Megan McLinden (8-3) at the No. 1.
Rookie
Lynsey Cover captured NCCU's first single victory after she defeated Maguire (6-0, 6-4) at the No. 6 spot followed by Ramic's win over Nicole Nielly (6-0, 7-5) at the No. 5.
Leading the Catamounts 3-2, Nekrasova captured the No. 3 victory beating McLinden (6-4, 7-5) sealing the NCCU victory, while Muamba wrapped up the Lady Eagle's 5-2 advantage knocking off Bettiol )6-4, 6-4) at the No. 2.
NCCU returns to action on Sunday, March 30 as the Lady Eagles travel to Farmville, Va., for a 1 p.m. match-up at Longwood.
