EAGLES MAKE IT THREE-STRAIGHT WITH 5-2 VICTORY OVER HOWARD

DURHAM, N.C. – As the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team was the first North Carolina school to host a USTA/ITA College Match Day, the Eagles continued their win streak, extending it to three as NCCU defeated the Howard Bison 5-2 on Saturday, March 15 in Durham, N.C. on the NCCU Tennis Courts.

NCCU was selected as the first North Carolina school to host a USTA/ITA College Match Day, one of 44 nationwide and one of two Historically Black Colleges and Universities' (HBCU).

The Eagles swept doubles competition earning the doubles point after Stephan Charles-Donatien/Tamina Kienka defeated HU's William Jones/Myron Davis (8-4) at the No. 1, Kyle Hairston/Daniil Gerasimov were victorious at the No. 2 over Ismael Kaouche/Laguna Foster (8-3) and Fabrice George/Thomas Persico beat Nile Kendakll/Nico Sorrell (8-0).

In singles action NCCU's Gerasimov defeated Jones at the No. 1 (6-0, 6-1), Kienka won the No. 3 point over the Bison's Davis (4-6, 6-4, 6-5 (4)), Jamal Hoyte earned the No. 5 victory for NCCU beating Sorrell (6-2, 6-1) and Persico's (6-0, 6-0) sweep at the No. 6 gave the Eagles the 5-2 victory.
