GametrackerPRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on the road, as the Lady Eagles open their league weekend swing at Maryland Eastern Shore, Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., in Princess Anne, Maryland, inside Hytche Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
The 4-2 Lady Eagles enter the contest after suffering a 90-26 road loss the No. 1/2 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks on Dec. 2 in Columbia, South Carolina, while the Hawks are coming off of a 58-43 home-victory over Mount Saint Mary's on Dec. 3.
UMES currently holds the 7-1 all-time series advantage over NCCU, with the Lady Eagles lone victory taking place on Jan. 7, 2010 in Durham as rookie Joanna Miller led NCCU with 32 points during the 69-60 Eagle win.
A year ago, the Hawks defeated NCCU (3/3/14) in Princess Anne, 72-57, while Racquel David led the Lady Eagles with 18 points.
LEADERSDavis currently leads NCCU in nearly every category as she is the MEAC's only player to average a double-double with 15.3 points and 10.2 boards. The 6-0 senior also heads the Lady Eagles with 1.8 steals per contest and 1.3 blocks.
Jessica Long leads the Hawks in multiple categories, including points (10.8), assists (3.3), steals (2.0), and minutes (31.2) while Alexis Udoji anchors the defensive end, leading the squad in rebounds (9.0) and blocks (3.2).

Racquel Davis collected a career-best 29 points and career-high 19 rebounds during a home loss to Winthrop on Nov. 22, averaging 23.5 points per game and 18.0 rebounds for the week, earning her MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors (Dec. 1)
Sophomore duo
Morgan Jones (Stockbrdige, Georgia) and
Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) earned career-best scoring performances at Campbell, as Jones tied her 14 points scored at WCU, and Clement put up a career-high 10 points, shooting 3-for-5 from behind the arc.
Senior
Khyra Conerly (Oakland, California) earned the season-first MEAC Player of the Week honors, following the 2014-15 opening week, the league announced Monday, Nov. 17 while also grabbing College Sports Madness MEAC Player of the Week honors after week one.
NCCU returns 8 letterwinners and three starters this season from a squad that went 11-19 overall in 6-10 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play, finishing ninth in the regular season a year ago.
Head coach
Vanessa Taylor enters her third season at NCCU and holds a 14-47 career record with the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles were picked to finish tenth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference preseason poll by the league's coaches and sports information directors.
After being named to the 2013-14 MEAC third-team, Davis was selected to repeat on the pre-season All-MEAC Third Team.
