The Lady Eagles defeated the Blue Hose from Presbyterian, 55-44, on Nov. 14 in their first season-opening victory since the transition to division I in Clinton, S.C.

NCCU dropped its first game of the season, 66-55, to Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Nov.17 in McDougald-McLendon Gym.

The Lady Eagles also picked up a pair of victories over Big South opponents, UNC Asheville (76-65) on Nov. 23 and Gardner-Webb (89-58) on Nov. 25 while falling to Campbell (56-45) on Dec. 16.
Davis on the Double

Junior Racquel Davis has collected four double-doubles this season (at Presbyterian, at South Florida, vs. Gardner-Webb and vs. Western Carolina), averaging 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest.

Davis earned a season-best 15 rebounds at Presbyterian (Nov. 14) and 21 points versus Western Carolina (12/2).

NCCU redshirt senior Jessica Freeman averages 14.1 points per game, shooting 60-for-178 from the field (.337), 22-for-74 from behind the arc (.267), 27-for-34 from the free throw line (.794) and is now six points shy of reaching 1,000 in her career.

Freeman earned a season-high 26 on Dec. 19 during a 73-69 victory over Western Carolina.

After an explosive start, the Lady Eagles lost their offensive momentum falling to the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs 68-44 on Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Va.

Redshirt senior Jessica Freeman, led the Lady Eagles for the seventh time this season, earning her third 18-point performance of the season, shooting 7-for-16 from the field and 4-for-7 from behind the arc while also leading the team with four steals and three assists.

In addition, junior Racquel Davis added 12 points while pulling down a team-high eight boards, and junior Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif.) and freshman Tia Clement contributed five points apiece.

Going into last Saturday's game, McClanahan and Nunn were ranked among the NCAA Div. I statistical leaders in three categories McClanahan was third in assists per game (8.4) while Nunn ranked 12th in blocked shots (3.0) and 14th in rebounding (11.3).

Returning only two letterwinners from the team a year ago, NCCU welcomes 11 newcomers to the court this season.

Junior transfers Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif./Northern Arizona), Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Johnson C. Smith) and Nikki Works (Syracuse, N.Y./Temple) sat out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Rachel Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Mt. San Antonio College) marks coach Taylor's firs community college transfer and Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C./UNC-Wilmington) will join the Lady Eagles as a graduate student.

After sitting out the 2012-13 season, redshirt freshmen Monique Whaley-Briggs will see the floor for the first time in a NCCU jersey by way of G.W. Carver High School of Engineering and Science in Philadelphia, Pa.

In addition to the experienced newcomers, four true freshmen will also be looked to have an immediate impact on the youthful Lady Eagles program: Shiana Carrington (Corona, Calif.), Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, N.C.) , Alexus Hynes (Houston, Texas) and Morgan Jones (Stockbridge, Ga.).
