DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team suffered its second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest of the season as the Lady Eagles (7-10, 2-2 MEAC) dropped a 12 point decision to the rival North Carolina A&T Aggies (13-3, 3-1 MEAC), 59-47 on Wednesday, Jan. 22 inside McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

Redshirt senior Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Lady Eagles for the ninth time this season scoring a team-best 19 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the field, 4-for-10 from behind the arc and 1-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Junior Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif.) contributed on the offensive end adding 13 points while sophomore Tisha Dixon (Kinston, N.C.) collected a team-best seven rebounds during NCCU's shortcoming.

The Lady Eagles struck first during the 34th meeting against the Aggies off of a fast-break basket from Freeman to Conerly at the 18:26 mark.

NCAT scored the next five points pulling ahead by three during a back and forth battle during the first eight minutes of play.

With 12:22 left in the first frame, Conerly scored her eighth point of the contest as the Lady Eagles trailed the Aggies 9-8, all of NCCU's points coming from Conerly.

The Aggies answered with an 11-0 run over the next four minutes before Dixon broke NCCU's drought with a pair of free throws at the 9:06 mark.

In the closing seconds of the first half NCAT saw its largest lead of the half of 17 off of a steal and dish from Tracy King to Christina Carter.

Freeman knocked down a jumper as the first half clock expired, cutting the Aggies lead to fifteen heading into the locker room.

NCAT carried its force over to the second half going ahead by as many as 21.

The Lady Eagles kept their fight alive, going on a 16-4 run as the Aggies saw their lead cut to seven after a steal and basket from Conerly, with 4:10 left to play set the score to 53-48.

Seven would be the closest NCCU would bring the score as NCAT had an answer for every Lady Eagle basket, taking the 59-47 victory back to Greensboro.

As a team NCCU shot 17-for-44 from the field (38.6 percent), 5-for-11 from three-point land (35.7) and 8-for-15 from the free throw line (53.3) while pulling down 31 boards, collected 10 assists, one block and five team steals.

NCCU continues its four-game home stand as the Lady Eagles welcome Coppin State to McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 25 during a 2 p.m. tipoff.
