Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. – During the final day of the 2013 Spartan Spiketacular, hosted by UNC Greensboro, the Eagles suffered a pair of losses, falling first to the host Spartans 3-0 (25-6, 25-16, 25-14) then dropping a closely-fought battle which consisted of 25 ties and eight lead changes to George Mason 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-20) on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Greensboro N.C., at Fleming Gymnasium.

The junior duo of Ashley McCarthy and Da'sha Brown led during the two-game stint on the offensive end. Brown collected 14 kills during the two match-ups and McCarthy added 13 with a team and season-high best 10 kills against George Mason.

McCarthy also contributed a team and season-high 15 digs on the defensive end during the GMU match-up, marking her first double-double of the season while also adding two blocks.

Senior Kalin Russell led the Eagles on the nets collecting seven blocks during the two games while also amassing 10 kills, and one service ace.

Contributing to the offense for NCCU was sophomore Melissa Rabell Pineiro who distributed 44 assists, a season-high of 32 against GWU.  

The Eagles return to the court on Friday, Sept. 27 as they host the rival Aggies of North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m., in Durham, N.C., inside of McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
