DURHAM, N.C. (
www.NCCUEaglePride.com) -The North Carolina Central University men’s tennis team earned its second victory of the season after defeating the Rams of Winston-Salem State University in a 6-1 decision on Saturday, April 6, in Durham, N.C., on the NCCU Tennis Courts.
The Eagles began the match with No. 1 doubles partners
Daniil Gerasimov and
Jose Fabara defeating WSSU’s Creighton Jones and Jonathan Aubrey 8-3 followed by
Stephan Charles-Donatien and
Fabrice George beating Josh Aubrey and Corey Bonnette 8-3 in the No. 2 spot, and
Jamal Hoyte and
Thomas Persico winning as the No. 3 duo over Drew Dunweiler and Chris Jeter 8-3.
NCCU continued its success during singles play after Persico defeated Jones as the No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Gerasimov won as No. 1 beating Aubrey 6-2, 6-3, Charles-Donatien was victorious over Bonnette in the No. 4 spot (6-3, 6-3), George beat Jeter 6-0, 6-2 and
Tamina Kienka gave the Eagles their last point defeating Dunzweiler 6-1, 6-2.
The Eagles return to the courts on Sunday, April 7 as they head to Petersburg, Va., where they will take on Virginia State University in an 11 a.m. match-up.
