NCCU MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO UNC-ASHEVILLE, 6-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men’s tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to the Bulldogs of UNC-Asheville on Saturday, March 30, in Asheville, N.C.

NCCU sophomore Tamina Kienka was the lone Eagle to walk away with a singles victory as he defeated UNC-A’s Ryan Matthews, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 as the No. 6 singles player.

The Bulldogs swept through doubles action, defeating the Eagles 2-1 to capture the first point and move ahead of the Eagles 1-0.

UNC-A’s Adrien Langeard and Matt Waissen defeated NCCU’s Daniil Gerasimov and Jose Fabara (8-3) in No. 1 doubles, while the duo of Brett Landau and Alex Croker finished off Tamina Kienka and Jamal Hoyte (8-5) in the No.3 spot. Fabrice George and Stephan Charles earned the Eagles lone doubles victory beating Bulldogs Daniel Kripak and John Schubel (8-3).

UNC-A continued to dominate in singles action with Langeard defeating Gerasimov (6-2, 6-3), Waissen beat Persico (6-1, 6-2), Kripak was victorious over Fabara (6-4, 6-4), Croker defeated Charles (0-6, 6-4, 6-4) and George fell to Schudel (6-3, 6-3).

NCCU men’s tennis returns to the courts on Wednesday, April 3 for a 1 p.m., matchup against the Longwood Lancers on the NCCU Tennis Courts in Durham, N.C.
