DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University Department of Athletics has announced Andrea Wheeler as its new Assistant Sports Information Director.
At NCCU, Wheeler will primarily cover volleyball, women’s basketball, softball and men’s and women’s tennis.
Wheeler is no stranger to NCCU. The May 2012 NCCU graduate is a former Lady Eagles softball player and former sports information intern.
As the sports information intern from Jan. 2010 until Feb. 2013, Wheeler mainly covered cross country, bowling, and men’s and women’s track and field, while handling game day statistics for football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.
During her undergraduate matriculation, Wheeler was a member of the 2009 and 2010 NCCU softball team and the 2008 Mount Olive College softball team. She graduated cum laude with a degree in parks, recreation and leisure studies with a concentration in sports management and a minor in business. She was inducted into the Rho Phi Lambda National Honor Society and was a member of North Carolina Recreation and Park Association (NCRPA), and Physical Education and Recreation Majors Association (PERMA) while at NCCU.
Wheeler is a Durham, N.C., native. She is the daughter of Edward and Dawn Wheeler and has two younger sisters Bethany and Casey, and two younger brothers E.N. and Max.
