NCCU WOMEN’S TENNIS FIVE-MATCH WIN STREAK SNAPPED AT UNC-C

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women’s tennis team dropped its first contest in the past five matches as they fell to the 49ers of UNC-Charlotte 4-3, on Saturday, March 16 at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

Rookie Aissa Muamba extended her singles win streak to 12 during the loss as she competed in the No. 3 spot defeating UNC-C’s Lisa Grosselius 6-2, 6-2.

The 49er’s took the doubles point to start the match defeating the Lady Eagles in all three contests giving UNC-C a 1-0 lead over NCCU.

In singles competition Olesya Palko defeated Alexandra Zinn in the No. 1 spot 7-6 (10-8), 7-5, Muamba defeated Grosselius in the No. 3 and Rebecca Wood was victorious against UNC’C’s Tyler Baker 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, giving the Lady Eagles their 3 points in the 4-3 loss to the 49er’s.

NCCU falls to 9-4 on the season after the match while UNC-C advances to 7-4.
