NCCU MEN’S TENNIS EARNS CONFERENCE WIN OVER UMES, 7-0

Eagles Advance to 1-5 on the Season


DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University men’s tennis team earns its first victory of the season after a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference sweep over the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks 7-0,  on Saturday, March 9, in Durham, N.C. on the NCCU Tennis Courts.
 
The Eagles began the match with No. 1 doubles partners Daniil Gerasimov and Jose Fabara defeating UMES’s Wirlen Elame and Kijontray McClay 8-0 followed by Stephan Charles-Donatien and Fabrice George sweeping Mohin Uddin and Joseph Journey 8-0. In the No. 3 spot Jamal Hoyte and Thomas Persico won by default putting NCCU ahead of the Hawks 1-0.

NCCU continued its success during singles play after Gerasimov defeated Elame, Persico beat McClay, UMES’s Uddin lost to Charles-Donatien, and Fabara defeated Journey all in 6-0, 6-0 victories. George and Hoyte won by default giving the Eagles the 7-0 win over the Hawks.
