The Game
The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team returns home after a two-game road stint along with a two-week game break as the Lady Eagles host the Campbell University Lady Camels on Monday, Dec. 16 in a 6 p.m. match-up inside McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
The Lady Camels lead NCCU all-time 11-2, with the last meeting on Nov. 12, 2012 in Buies Creek, N.C., when CU defeated the Lady Eagles 67-51.

Junior transfer Racquel Daivs (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned 14 of the Lady Eagles 27 points as NCCU's three-game win streak was broken by the No.12/13 South Carolina Gamecocks, 79-21 on Monday, Dec. 2 in Columbia, S.C.

Davis finished with a team-high 14 points, shooting 3-for-8 from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line in addition to six boards and two steals.

Senior Tiffany Gary (Delray Beach, Fla.) pulled down a team-best seven boards and a block for the Lady Eagles while redshirt senior Monique Whaley-Briggs (Philadelphia, Penn.) added four points to NCCU's shortcoming.

As a team the Lady Eagles shot 8-for-50 from the field, 1-for-14 from the three, 10-of-12 from the free throw line, collected 28 rebounds, three steals and one blocks.

NCCU redshirt senior Jessica Freeman has led the Lady Eagles in scoring for five of their seven match-ups this season.

The Charlotte, N.C., native averages 14.4 points per game, shooting 34-for-98 from the field (.347), 14-for-43 from behind the arc (.336) and 19-for-21 from the free throw line (.905).

Freeman earned a season-high 24 on Nov. 23 during a 76-65 victory over UNC Asheville.
Davis on the Double

Junior Racquel Davis has collected three double-doubles this season (at Presbyterian, at South Florida and vs. Gardner-Webb), averaging 11.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest.

Davis earned a season-best 15 rebounds at Presbyterian (Nov. 14) and 17 points versus Gardner-Webb (11/25).
Scouting the Camels

Junior guard Kiera Gaines is the leading scorer for the Lady Camels averaging 13.1 ppg, while Roslyn Presley has reached double figures in six of seven games.

Returning only two letterwinners from the team a year ago, NCCU welcomes 11 newcomers to the court this season.

Junior transfers Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif./Northern Arizona) and Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Johnson C. Smith) sat out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Rachel Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Mt. San Antonio College) marks coach Taylor's first community college transfer and Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C./UNC-Wilmington) will join the Lady Eagles as a graduate student.

After sitting out the 2012-13 season, redshirt freshmen Monique Whaley-Briggs will see the floor for the first time in a NCCU jersey by way of G.W. Carver High School of Engineering and Science in Philadelphia, Pa.

In addition to the experienced newcomers, four true freshmen will also be looked to have an immediate impact on the youthful Lady Eagles program: Shiana Carrington (Corona, Calif.), Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, N.C.) , Alexus Hynes (Houston, Texas) and Morgan Jones (Stockbridge, Ga.).
