Lady Eagles Against the Big South
  • NCCU is currently 1-1 against Big South opponents during the 2013-14 season.
  • The Lady Eagles defeated the Blue Hose from Presbyterian, 55-44, on Nov. 14in their first season-opening victory since the transition to division I in Clinton, S.C.
  • NCCU dropped its first game of the season, 66-55, to Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Nov.17 in McDougald-McLendon Gym.

Lady Eagles on the Double
  • • A Lady Eagle has earned a double-double during all of NCCU's match-ups this season.
  • Junior transfer Racquel  Davis seized her first double-double in a Lady Eagle uniform during the season-opening match-up against Presbyterian (Nov. 14) earning 14 points and 15 rebounds while adding a second at USF (Nov. 20) with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Senior Tiffany Gary earned her first double-double against Coastal Carolina (Nov. 17) collecting 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The 1
  • Jessica Freeman, who wears number one, put on a show during her first two games as a Lady Eagle.
  • Freeman has led the team in their season-opener against Presbyterian (Nov. 14) with 18 points and in NCCU's home-opening game versus Coastal Carolina (Nov. 17) with 18 points.
  • After only scoring two points against USF, Freeman now averages 12.7 ppg, is shooting 14-of-47 from the field, 6-of-23 from the three and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

Last Time Out
  • Junior transfer Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned her second double-double of the season as the North Carolina Central University women's basketball dropped a 93-35 decision to the University of South Florida Bulls on Wednesday, Nov. 20 inside the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla.
  •  Davis finished with a game-high 14 rebounds and team-high ten points for the Lady Eagles, shooting 2-of-14 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line, blocked three shots and collected one steal and assist.
  •  In addition to Davis, Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif.) contributed her third-straight seven-point performance, Tiffany Gary (Delray Beach, Fla.) added six points and nine boards and Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, N.C.) shot 2-of-4 from three-point land accumulating another six points for NCCU.
  • As a team the Lady Eagles shot 13-of-60 from the field, 2-of-15 from the three, 7-of-9 from the free throw line, collected 41 rebounds, seven steals and eight blocks.

Scouting the Bulldogs
  • UNC Asheville has started the 2013-14 season off with a 2-2 record, going undefeated in Kimmel Arena
  • UNCA is coming off of a 62-51 road loss to Western Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in Cullowhee, N.C.
  • Shonese Jones led the squad in scoring against WCU with 13 points while KJ Weaver pulled down a team-best 13 boards.
  • During the Bulldogs last meeting with the Lady Eagles UNCA defeated NCCU on Dec. 29, 2010 in Durham, 67-56, where NCCU senior Jori Nwachukwu and sophomore Chasidy Williams' combined 31 points were not enough to subdue the Bulldogs. 

New Additions
  • Returning only two letterwinners from the team a year ago, NCCU welcomes 11 newcomers to the court this season.
  • Junior transfers Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif./Northern Arizona), Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Johnson C. Smith) and Nikki Works (Syracuse, N.Y./Temple) sat out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Rachel Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Mt. San Antonio College) marks coach Taylor's firs community college transfer and Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C./UNC-Wilmington) will join the Lady Eagles as a graduate student.
  • After sitting out the 2012-13 season, redshirt freshmen Monique Whaley-Briggs will see the floor for the first time in a NCCU jersey by way of G.W. Carver High School of Engineering and Science in Philadelphia, Pa.
  • In addition to the experienced newcomers, four true freshmen will also be looked to have an immediate impact on the youthful Lady Eagles program: Shiana Carrington (Corona, Calif.), Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, N.C.) , Alexus Hynes (Houston, Texa¬s) and Morgan Jones (Stockbridge, Ga.).
