Lady Eagles take on Bulls for Second Time in School History

Lady Eagles on the Road
• NCCU opened the 2013-14 season on the road at Presbyterian Nov. 14.
• The Lady Eagles defeated the Blue Hose (55-44) in their first season-opening victory since the transition to division I.
• NCCU finished 1-17 on the road during the 2011-12 season.

Lady Eagles on the Double
• Two Lady Eagles have earned double-doubles during the first two contests of the 2013-14 season.
• Junior transfer Racquel  Davis seized her first double-double in a Lady Eagle uniform during the season-opening match-up against Presbyterian (Nov. 14) earning 14 points and 15 rebounds.
• Senior Tiffany Gary earned her first double-double of the 2013-14 season during the Lady Eagles home opener against Coastal Carolina (Nov. 17) collecting 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The 1
• Jessica Freeman, who wears number one, has put on a show during her first two games as a Lady Eagle.
• Freeman has led the team in their season-opener against Presbyterian (Nov. 14) with 18 points and in NCCU's home-opening game versus Coastal Carolina (Nov. 17) with 18 points.
• The redshirt senior has shot 13-of-36 from the field, 6-of-15 from behind the arc and 4-of-6 from the free throw line during the first two games.
• Additionally, Freeman also led with four steals and four assists at Presbyterian.

Last Time Out
• During the 2013-14 North Carolina Central University women's basketball home-opening contest, the Lady Eagles fell to 1-1 on the season as they dropped a back-and-forth battle to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, 66-55 on Sunday, Nov. 17 in Durham.
• For the second-straight game, redshirt senior Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C.)  scored an impressive 18 points, shooting 6-of-21 from the field, 3-of-10 from three-point land and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe as senior Tiffany Gary (Delray Beach, Fla.) earned her first double-double of the season contributing 10 points and 12 rebounds in the Lady Eagles shortcoming.
• As a team, NCCU shot 16-of-63 from the field (30.2 percent), 4-of-15 from behind the arc (26.7%) and 13-of20 from the charity stripe (65.0%), while gathering 40 total rebounds, 14 assists, five blocks and 15 steals.

Scouting the Bulls
• USF has started off the 2013-14 season 3-1 and 2-1 at home, with its only loss of the season to Maryland (78-70) during the Bulls season-opener (Nov. 8)
• The Bulls are led offensively by sophomore Country Williams who averages 16.3 points for USF over the first four contests.
• Sophomore Alisia Jenkins averages a double-double for the Bulls, leading the team on the boards, with 12.3 ppg and 11.0 rpg.
• During USF's last outing the Bulls defeated Bradley (87-63) on the road (Nov. 17) where five Bulls finished in double-figure scoring and three earned double figure rebounds.

New Additions
• Returning only two letterwinners from the team a year ago, NCCU welcomes 11 newcomers to the court this season.
• Junior transfers Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif./Northern Arizona), Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y./Johnson C. Smith) and Nikki Works (Syracuse, N.Y./Temple) sat out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Rachel Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Mt. San Antonio College) marks coach Taylor's firs community college transfer and Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C./UNC-Wilmington) will join the Lady Eagles as a graduate student.
• After sitting out the 2012-13 season, redshirt freshmen Monique Whaley-Briggs will see the floor for the first time in a NCCU jersey by way of G.W. Carver High School of Engineering and Science in Philadelphia, Pa.
• In addition to the experienced newcomers, four true freshmen will also be looked to have an immediate impact on the youthful Lady Eagles program: Shiana Carrington (Corona, Calif.), Tia Clement (Winston-Salem, N.C.) , Alexus Hynes (Houston, Texa¬s) and Morgan Jones (Stockbridge, Ga.).
