Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – North Carolina Central University volleyball senior
Kalin Russell tied her kill record set a week ago at 18 during the Eagles season-finale loss to the Savannah State Tigers, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-16, 25-20) on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Savannah, Ga.
Russell finished her final match in a NCCU uniform tying her career of 18 kills while also contributing five digs and two blocks.
Assisting the Eagles offense was sophomore
Melissa Rabell Pineiro who seized 24 of the teams 25 helpers.
On the defensive end, senior J'Nae Raynor led the team during her last run as an Eagle collecting 10 digs, while freshman
Kelsey Murphy added eight. On the net, junior
Ashley McCarthy collected a match-high six blocks in addition to her three kills and two service aces.
As a team, NCCU earned 33 kills on 112 attempts, amassed 25 assists, 36 digs, six service aces and seven team blocks.
Three Tigers finished with double-digit kills while Biance Brochu led the way for SSU with 14. Asiha Williams collected a match-high 11 digs and Caitlynn Masoe circulated a match-best 40 assists.
Collectively, the Tigers knocked in 48 kills on 117 attempts, earned 42 assists, 48 digs, five service aces and four team blocks.
The Eagles finished the 2013 season with a 3-25 overall record, 3-7 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.
