Genna Earns Season-First Double-Double during Loss

Box Score TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – North Carolina Central University volleyball junior setter Alice Genna earned a season-first double-double during the Eagles first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road contest loss to the Rattlers of Florida A&M 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-8) on Friday, Oct. 5 in Tallahassee, Fla.
 
Genna collected 10 assists and 11 digs for NCCU during the defeat.
 
Fellow junior Da'sha Brown earned a team-high seven kills while also adding 11 digs.
 
On the net, senior/junior duo Kalin Russell and Ashley McCarthy contributed a total of 9 blocks with four and five a piece while Russell added six kills, six digs and one service ace and McCarthy collected four kills.  
 
As a team, the Eagles earned 25 digs, 24 assists, 52 digs and eight team blocks.
 
Florida A&M used a balanced offensive attack, powered by Yeisha Arcia and Ginna Lopez-Chavez who each amassed 10 kills. Arcia also earned 11 digs while Joanie De Castillo led the match with 15 digs and Diana Gonzales assisted the Rattlers offense with 28 assists.
 
The Rattlers collected 42 team kills, 34 assists, 53 digs, six service aces and nine team blocks.
 
NCCU returns to MEAC road action on Sunday, Oct. 6 as the Eagles travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. where they take on the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m.
