KENNESAW, Ga. - Sparked by Dayana Arrufat Rondon and Christine Anthony, North Carolina Central University swept Tennessee State University 3-0 (25-19, 28-26, 25-22)on day two of the Kennesaw State Owls Volleyball Classic on Saturday.
Arrufat amassed a match-high 14 kills along with six digs to pace the Eagles, while Anthony contributed 13 kills, a team-best 11 digs and three blocks. Alice Genna collected 17 assists, three service aces and six digs for NCCU.
In NCCU’s second match of the day, the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga swept the Eagles 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19).
Anthony recorded a season-high 17 kills along with eight digs and three blocks. Arrufat chipped in seven kills and a team-best 12 digs.
For the third straight weekend, Anthony earned all-tournament team honors. The rookie posted 42 kills in four matches during the KSU Owls Classic.
NCCU (2-11) returns to action next weekend at the Davidson Wildcat Classic. The Eagles will play the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday, followed by host Davidson College and High Point University on Saturday.
