NCCU MT v. Shaw
DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – In their last contest in maroon and gray, North Carolina Central University seniors Jack Waissen and Alejandro Espitia clinched the No. 1 and No. 2 singles wins in the final regular-season match of the 2011-12 campaign in a 5-2 loss to Shaw on Tuesday, April 3 on the NCCU Tennis Courts.
Waissen defeated Artur Latypov 6-0, 6-3, while Espitia defeated Nictora in an intense two-hour battle, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Espitia clutched another win when he teamed up with junior Jose Fabara in the No. 2 doubles slot. The duo beat Gaberial Nicotra and Daniel Vasquez 8-5.
The mighty maroon will have home-state advantage in their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament appearance on March 13-15 in Raleigh, N.C.
