NCCU LADY EAGLES FALL 66-45 TO RIVAL AGGIES

Williams Tops NCCU with 20 Points, 12 Rebounds

GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina Central University junior forward Chasidy Williams completed her eighth double-double of the season in a 66-45 loss to the Lady Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University on Saturday, Feb. 18, in the Corbett Sports Center on the campus of N.C. A&T.

This was the 30th meeting between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Aggies and the second and final regular season Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference competition between the teams.

Williams led the maroon and gray with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while redshirt sophomore Lakisha Evans contributed 10 points.

The Lady Aggies jumped out to an early 14-5 lead with 10:00 remaining in the first half and never relinquished the lead.  Amber Calvin powered the Lady Aggies shooting 50 percent from three-point range in the beginning half.

At 11:34 in the first half, the Lady Eagles went on a scoring drought. NCCU junior Tenika Neely ended the drought at 4:53 making the score 27-13. They scored just six points in the last 11 minutes before intermission.

Despite shooting 8-30 from the field, the Lady Eagles forced 13 first half turnovers and trailed by 10 at halftime with the score of 30-20.

Coming out of halftime, the Lady Eagles cut the lead down to seven off a three-point shot by redshirt junior Jasmine Alston. The NCCU bench contributed 12 points in the competition.

The Lady Eagles finished the second half shooting 10-of-31 from the field at 32 percent and 100 percent from the charity stripe.

The Lady Aggies finished the competition on a 6-2 run for the final score of 66-45.

Three Lady Aggies scored in double-figures with JaQuayla Berry and Tiffanie Adair finishing with a double-double apiece. Berry finished with 23 points and 16 boards, followed by Adair with 12 points and 10 boards. Amber Calvin contributed 16 points along with three assists.

NCCU declines to 3-23 overall and 1-12 in MEAC competition, as North Carolina A&T State advances to 11-14 overall and 6-6 on conference play.

The Lady Eagles continue road-play traveling to Savannah, Ga., to take on the Lady Tigers of Savannah State University on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2:00 p.m.
