DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – After a solid first half of play, the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team lost its steam, allowing Wofford College to take a 11-point, 50-39 win on Monday, Nov. 26, in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

Tisha Dixon led the Lady Eagles, scoring in double-figures for the third time this season. The Kinston, N.C., native scored 11 points while collecting seven rebounds, two steals, and shooting 7-for-10 from the charity stripe. Redshirt senior
Chasidy Williams contributed eight points, a team-high eight rebounds, three steals and two assists during the loss.
During the first half the Lady Terriers took their largest lead of eight points at the 10:35 before the Lady Eagles went on a 6-0 run.
NCCU hit the ground running after Dixon's made free throw tied the game at 18. The momentum switched in favor of the Lady Eagles after a three-point shot by junior
Tenika Neely gave NCCU its first lead of the half 21-18, with 2:43 left on the clock.
With 26 seconds remaining in the first half, sophomore
Montreshia Perry hit a three-point shot, giving NCCU its first halftime lead of the season, 24-22.
As the second half of play commenced, NCCU battled to keep the game close. During the first six minutes of play, Wofford College tied the game four times before going on a 17-5 run, placing the Lady Eagles in a 12-point deficit.
Up until the 48-second mark, the Lady Terriers maintained a double-figure lead. A three-pointer by Perry brought the margin to nine with scores of 48-39. But, in the final seconds of play, WC made two foul shots closing the contest at 50-39.
In terms of a total team performance, NCCU seized 36 rebounds, blocked one WC shot and stole 16 Lady Terrier possessions. The Lady Eagles shot 64 percent from the free-throw line, 27 percent from the field and 36 percent from the three-point arc.
The visiting Lady Terriers offense was led by seniors Morgan Wrightson and Daniella Motley. Wrightson dropped 18 points, going 4-for-5 from the charity stripe, while Motley added nine points, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shots.
As a unit, WC obtained 37 rebounds and stole 17 Lady Eagle possessions, while blocking five NCCU shots. The Lady Terriers shot 64 percent from the charity stripe, 35 percent from the field and 22 percent from the long range.
The Lady Eagles hit the road for a 7:00 p.m. matchup against the Lady Seahawks from UNC- Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C., on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
