CONWAY, S.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore
Montreshia Perry's 11 points was not enough to push the Lady Eagles past Coastal Carolina University Monday night (Nov. 12), falling 58-39 in the HTC Center in Conway, S.C.
Perry, a native of Colerian, N.C., scored a team-high 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting from the 3-point line and a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe, to go along with three rebounds and two assists.

Tisha Dixon led the Lady Eagles on the boards for the second straight contest, grabbing a team-high eight rebounds, while fellow rookie
Amber Neely led NCCU with four steals.
Coastal Carolina forced 22 turnovers, which proved to be costly for the Lady Eagles, who had trouble getting the ball through the net, only shooting 24.9 percent from the field.
The Chanticleers had two student-athletes put on double-figure scoring performances. AJ Jordan recorded a game-high 15 points while collecting five rebounds. Shatia Cole contributed with 10 points, four assists and three steals, while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line.
The Lady Eagles forced a game-high 23 turnovers holding Coastal Carolina, as a team, to shoot 38.2 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from behind the arc. From the foul line, the Lady Chanticleers shot 82.4 percent, going 14-for-17. NCCU had more opportunities at the foul line than CCU, but didn't quite capitalize on them, shooting 6-for-21.
CCU jumped out in front from the tip, leading 5-0 at the 18:46 mark.
Tenika Neely made a jumper at 18:28 to put the first points on the board for the Lady Eagles. Neither team could produce offensively for almost four straight minutes until
Tiffany Gary made a jumper with 4:32 left in the first half, NCCU trailing 16-7.
The Lady Eagles' brought the game within five points during the end of the first half after a 7-4 run, before Lady Chanticleer Angelica Henry hit a lay-up to give CCU a 23-16 going into intermission.
In the second half, it was all about Coastal Carolina. The Lady Chanticleer built upon their lead with a 14-2 run in the second half of action led by Jordan’s six straight baskets. CCU continued to extend its lead, ahead by as many as 21 at the 4:36 mark. The Lady Eagles continued to battle, never giving up. They managed to cut the lead to 18, but didn't quite have enough time. Coastal Carolina claimed the win, 58-39.
NCCU dropped to 0-2 on the season, while Costal Carolina improved to .500 at 1-1 on the year.
The Lady Eagles return to the court Friday, Nov. 16, as they take on the Lady Camels of Campbell University at 5:15 p.m., in Buies Creek, N.C.
