FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men’s tennis doubles team of Jose Fabara and Fabrice George advanced to the semifinals of the Methodist University 2-of-3 Challenge on Oct. 5-7.
Fabara and George won two doubles matches to reach the semifinals on Sunday before falling to Edgar Bub and Akio Mariano of Mount Olive by the score of 6-8; 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, 6-1.
NCCU’s Tamina Kienka and Jamal Hoyte had a good showing on Saturday by defeating Ethan Lyon and Diego Oliveira of Pfeiffer, 8-4; 1-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.
Kienka and Hoyte then went on to play Rik Wolthius and Jack Frampton of Mount Olive and defeated them by a score of 9-7; 1-6, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.
Kienka and Hoyte lost to Sabastian Wernecke and Ben Hunter of Pfeiffer in the quarterfinals, 8-1; 1-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
