DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University return to the maroon and gray hardwood for a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Delaware State on Saturday, Jan. 28 in McDougald-
McLendon Gymnasium.

Saturday’s toe-to-toe contest expands the all-time to series to two games between the Lady Eagles (2-17) and the Lady Hornets (3-15), with the pilot contest taking place on Jan. 18, 2011.  In the 69-48 loss, junior Chasidy Williams netted a season-high 20 points, while senior Blaire Houston and NCCU graduate Jori Nwachukwu scored nine points apiece.  Lady Eagle graduate Shanise Blanks circulated six assists, as Nwachukwu blocked three shots and graduate Sheresa Mills gathered three steals.

The Lady Eagles were 31 percent from the field, 25 percent from the long range and 50 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Delaware State had four student-athletes score in double-figures, including one double-double outing by Brittany Washington with 17 points and 15 rebounds, followed by Kianna Conner’s 15 points off the bench.  Deanna Harmon netted 13 points, as Tasia Bristow rounded out the double-figure performances with 10 points.  Kianna D’Oliveria followed Washington’s rebounding effort with 14 boards.
 
Collectively, the Lady Hornets seized 48 rebounds, blocked five shots, stole 17 possessions and forced 30 NCCU turnovers.  Delaware State hit 37 percent from the field, 38 percent from behind the arc and 53 percent from the free-throw line.
 
NCCU hosts the Delaware squad after a 59-64 loss to Morgan State on Monday, Jan. 23 in Baltimore, Md.  NCCU freshman Kabrina Truesdale led the mighty maroon with a career-high and team-high 16 points, as junior Chasidy Williams grasped her 15th double-figure outing and her sixth double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while redshirt sophomore Lakisha Evans dropped a career-high 10 points.  Truesdale contributed to MSU’s 21 turnovers with a team-high four steals.  

The maroon and gray finished the matchup at 45 percent from the field on 26-of-58 shooting, 2-of-10 from behind the arc, and 42 percent from the charity stripe, 5-of-12.

On the season, the maroon and gray is 36 percent from the field on 352-of-976 shooting, 51-of-189 from behind the arc, and 59 percent from the charity stripe, 184-of-313.  Williams guides NCCU with 269 points, 133 rebounds, 46 steals and 11 blocks, while Truesdale leads in assists with 33.

DSU enters the nest on an eight-game losing skid and a most recent Monday, Jan. 23 65-84 loss to Florida A&M in Dover, Del.  In the home setback, two Lady Hornets scored in double-figures Tierra Hawkins dropped a team-high 16 points, while Keyanna Tate attained a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

On the season, DSU is shooting 35 percent from the field on 355-of-1012 shooting, 51-of-188 from the long range and 66 percent from the charity stripe, 238-of-360.  Offensively, NCCU will look have to look out for Tierra Hawkins, who averages 13.1 points per contest, and Tasia Bristow with 11.9 per game.  Hawkins will also be a rebounding threat as she has pulled down 112 boards, while Harmon leads in steals with 38 on the season.
