2011-12 Women’s Basketball Information Guide / Game Notes: NCCUW at Morgan State
BALTIMORE, MD. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – With one Baltimore, Md., contest complete, the North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team continues its stint in Maryland for a 5:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23 matchup against the Lady Bears of Morgan State University.
On Monday, NCCU will extend its all-time series to eight games with MSU leading the series 5-2. During the 2010-11 campaign, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference squads met on January 17, 2011 and February, 12, 2011. MSU took the first win 44-42, while NCCU took the home victory, 60-49.

Jori Nwachukwu recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while also securing a season-best six steals. Junior
Chasidy Williams came off the bench to score 15 points, including 11 in the opening 20 minutes to keep the Lady Eagles close in the first half. Junior
J’Mia Pollock collected 10 boards, her third double-digit rebounding effort last season, to go along with six points and two blocked shots. Sophomore point guard
Tenika Neely scored a season-high 10 points with two steals, three assists and only one turnover in 31 minutes of action.
NCCU enters another Maryland hardwood after an 84-44 loss to Coppin State on Saturday, Jan. 21 in the Physical Education Complex. In the MEAC loss, junior Chasidy Williams dropped 15 points and was four points shy of achieving a double-double with six rebounds, as senior Blaire Houston netted 10 points and collected three steals. Sophomore Alesha Jenkins circulated three assists in the afternoon matchup.
The maroon and gray finished the matchup at 43 percent from the field on 18-of-42 shooting, 2-of-8 from behind the arc, and 46 percent from the charity stripe, 6-of-16.
On the season, the maroon and gray is 35 percent from the field on 326-of-918 shooting, 27 percent from the long range, and 60 percent from the free-throw line, 179-of-301. Williams guides NCCU with 258 points, 123 rebounds, 45 steals and 11 blocks, while Truesdale leads in assists with 31.
Following a thrilling overtime 85-83 win over North Carolina A&T State University, the Lady Bears welcome the Lady Eagles Hill Field House. DeKeisha Mathis scored a team-high 16 points, as Tracey Carrington added 15 points to the team’s total. Amarah Williams contributed to the offensive and defensive mix with her second double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Lady Eagle supporters can continue their contributions to NCCU head coach Joli Robinson’s “Share the Warmth” campaign, by donating new to gently used outerwear and blankets throughout the 2011-12 season. Donation bins can be found at the main entrances of the McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
