DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – North Carolina Central University senior Trey Chatman and freshman Andres Perez provided the Eagles two points of the match against Norfolk State on Sunday, April 3 in Durham, N.C., at Whippoorwill Park.
By the conclusion of the morning match, NSU defeated NCCU 5-2.
After falling 3-6 in the first set, Chatman went on to defeat Jonathan Sessom in the final two sets, 6-3, 6-3. Andres Perez served up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Christian Romanzini.
While NSU obtained the doubles point by earning wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles spot, Alejandro Espitia and Perez would not allow a doubles sweep. The Colombian natives teamed up to defeat Romanzini and Sessom 8-6.
The Sunday, April 3 loss takes NCCU to 5-8 on the season.
NCCU will continue the season with a Friday, April 8 matchup against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Morgan State in Baltimore, Md., at 2 p.m.
