FARMVILLE, Va. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University endured two difficult days of competition, falling 6-1 to Radford on Wednesday, April 13 and dropping a 5-2 decision to Longwood on Thursday, April 14.
Newcomer Maria Nedstrom clutched her eighth singles win of the season in Wednesday’s matchup, defeating Radford’s Sara Tegner, 7-6, 6-2.
Against Longwood on Thursday, the Lady Eagles were able to grasp two singles wins and one doubles win.
Sophomore Oleysa Palko beat Zsofia Jakab in three sets with scores of 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles position. Junior Cameron Chatman topped Marta Pinyol 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot.
Palko/Chatman took on the No. 1 Longwood’s doubles team Jakab/Zsofia and seized an 8-1 victory.
The Lady Eagles conclude the season with a home matchup against Western Carolina on Sunday, April 17 on the NCCU Tennis Courts on the North Carolina Central University campus.
