With a full roster set for battle, the North Carolina Central University women’s tennis swept the Lady Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University 7-0 on Sunday, April 10 on the NCCU Tennis Courts in Durham, N.C.
 
Olesya Palko led the mighty maroon in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Azeib Nigatu. Cameron Chatman made a stellar return to the court, defeating her Lady Aggie foe 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. Fredrica Lombard put forth a fight to the finish match against Cayla Cross. Lombard lost the first set 2-6, but she was able to come back and clutch a 6-2, 16-14 victory over Cross for the No. 3 win. Newcomer Kelly Chapparo obtained her second straight win, with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Victorea Austin. Tatiana Velasquez retired her No. 5 spot opponent Kimberly Stalling, following a first set 5-2 victory. Maria Nedstrom completed the singles win by trouncing Chloe McSwain 6-2, 6-1.
 
NCCU continued its sweep in doubles play. Palko reunited with Chatman as the No. 1 doubles duo to defeat Nigatu and Cross 8-4. Lombard and Nedstrom grasped their third consecutive doubles win together with an 8-0 win against Harris and Austin. With a score of 8-2, Velasquez and Chaparro successfully overpowered McSwain and Stalling.
 
The Lady Eagles advance their record to 10-10 on the season.
 
The maroon and grey return to the courts on Thursday, April 14 in Farmville, Va., against Longwood University.
