Biography


2011:  Made improvements in all areas in his third season at NCCU, while starting in 42 games and playing in 45.  Finished with a career-high batting average of .271, set new career marks in hits (39), runs scored (25), doubles (6), RBIs (15), slugging percentage (.368), on-base percentage (.359), and walks (18).  Finished 2-for-3 in stolen bases.  Recorded at least one hit in 25 games.  From April 2 to April 8, had a seven game hitting streak that included a 3-for-3 with a home run effort against Savannah State.  Highlight game of the season came on March 9 in the win over Florida A&M where he went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored.  On March 18 against Buffalo went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, two runs scored, and 2 RBIs.  With his exceptional performance in the classroom was nominated as a CoSida Academic All-American. 

2010: Showed his true potential in his second season wearing maroon and gray finishing with a .226 batting average good enough for eighth on the team. Played in 36 contests and made 35 starts. Set career-highs in hits (24), runs scored (11), doubles (4), RBIs (14), slugging percentage (.292), walks (16), on-base percentage (.333), and was 3-for-3 in stolen bases. On March 16 and 19, went 5-for-7 in a two-game span against NC State and Coppin State with three RBIs, two runs scored, and two doubles. On March 30, went 4-for-6 with a three-run home run and two runs scored. In doubleheader action against Norfolk State on April 28 went 2-for-4 with a double, 3 RBIs and a run scored. That began a season-long five-game hitting streak that included a 3-for-8 effort at the dish at Campbell on April 30.

2009: Played in 28 contests, started in 15. Finished the season 10-for-60, (.167 avg). One of five Eagles to not get caught stealing (1-1). Highlight game of the season, April 21 vs. Florida A&M, went 2-for-2 at the plate with a two-run home-run and 4 RBIs, which was the most RBIs in a game by an Eagle on the year. March 21 vs. Savannah State went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Pinch-ran for Robert Grant in the top of the ninth at Coppin State (April 13), scored the tying run with the Eagles trailing by one late in that contest (NCCU went on to win 12-7). Had a two-game hitting streak from April 30-May 3, going 2-for-8 at the dish against Appalachian State and NC State.

High School (Mount Tabor H.S.): Played two years of varsity baseball, while also becoming an AP Scholar.

Personal: Born April 25, 1990, in Winston-Salem, N.C. Parents are David and Ronda Plummer. Major at NCCU is Business Management. Ross is also enrolled in the NCCU Honors Program.
