Biography

2013:  Finished his third season at NCCU third on the team in batting average at .294, playing in 39 games while starting 35.  Was fifth on the team in slugging percentage (.324), fifth in hits (40), tied for third in triples (1), fifth in total bases (44), tied for first in sacrifice bunt (6), and fourth in stolen bases (5).  Recorded 10 multi-hit games with four- three hit games, and five multi-RBI games with one-three RBI contest.  Tied for the second longest hit streak a seven games from March 2 to March 9.  A two-run triple down the right field line by Drayton on March 3 helped seal the series with a 10-0 victory over NC A&T.  His 3-for-5 effort with a double, a run scored, and three RBI performance against Norfolk State helped propel the Eagles to a 6-1 victory.  Went 3-for-5 with a run scored in the series-clinching victory over MEAC Champion Savannah State on March 17.

2012: Nominated for All-MEAC, and All-State (NCCSIA) honors. Started 45 of the 46 games he played in. Became the sixth Eagle in the modern era to record 100 career hits (109) finishing the season with a .287 batting average, good enough for fifth best on the team. Ended his second year at NCCU with a 10-game hitting streak, reaching base in the final 20 games of the season. Turned a team-high 15 double plays. In 101 chances at shortstop during conference action, recorded 33 putouts, 63 assists, and only five errors to record a .950 fielding percentage. Second on the team in runs scored (40), tied for second in triples (2), third on the team in hits (51), and fifth on the roster in total bases (58). Ended the year second on the team with seven sacrifice bunts and was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases. Compiled eight two-outs RBI for the Eagles and was 7-for-16 (.438) at-the-plate with a runner on third base and less than two outs. Recorded at least one hit in 36 games and had 14 multiple hit games (13- two hit games)with his best game being a 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI effort in the series finale against Savannah State on the road. During that series (April 28-29) batted 7-for-11 (.636) with four runs scored and four RBI. Went 2-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI in the first-ever win over Campbell on May 10. In the MEAC Tournament went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in the 10-3 elimination game win over Savannah State on May 17.

2011: Proved to be a player to watch out for heading into the MEAC as a sensational shortstop both offensively and defensively. Started his NCCU career with a 13-game hitting streak (Only two players on the roster had double-digit streaks) and was batting .377 during the streak. Started the most games on the team with 45. Recorded the most hits by a modern day baseball player at NCCU with 58 hits in 45 games played. Finished second on the roster with a .309 batting average, while ending the year with the second-most doubles (9) on the team. Was one of six Eagles to record at least one triple on the year and one of seven student-athletes to hit a home run. Ended the year fifth on the team with 17 RBIs, No. 1 on the roster with 26 runs scored. Defensively, turned a modern-day NCCU high 27 double plays in his rookie season and finished with a .903 fielding percentage. Batted .395 (17-of-43) against left-handed pitchers. Recorded the most multi-hit games on the roster with 15 games of 2 hits or more and had four games of 3 hits or more to finish with 19 multi-hit games. March 9 against Florida A&M, Drayton had one of his best performances of the year going 3-for-5 with a double, triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Nominated for the NCCSIA All-State baseball team and the ABCA All-Region Team.

High School (Middle Creek H.S.): Named to the Tri-Nine All Conference Baseball team during his sophomore, junior, and senior year. During his senior year the Mustangs went 19-6 and made the 2010 NCHSAA State Playoffs. Was also named All-State his senior season. As an A/B Honor roll student was all named to the Academic All-Conference squad. Won the Offensive MVP award his senior year after batting .475 and racking up 17 stolen bases for the Mustangs.

Personal: Born on August 9, 1991 in Raleigh, N.C. Dylan Lee Drayton is the son of Dee Dee Wolf.  Has a sister named Taylor.  Majoring in Criminal Justice at NCCU.
