North Carolina Central University Athletics

2022-23 Season: Averaged 5.4 points in 17 appearances for the Eagles. Shot 34.8% from behind the arc, making 24-of-69 3-pointers. Scored season-high 16 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from long range, versus Toccoa Falls on Jan. 3, 2023. Nailed 5-of-10 3-pointers for 15 points in a MEAC Championship quarterfinals victory over Delaware State on March 8, 2023.

Transfer:

New Mexico Junior College (2021-22): Averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

Louisiana (2020-21): Made 24 appearances with two starts, and averaged 17.3 minutes per game.  Averaged 6.4 points per game along with 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists.  Shot 37.3 percent from the floor, and 35.9 percent from the arc.  Scored in double-digits five times, including a career-high 22 points in 30 minutes off the bench in an overtime win over Texas State (Jan. 1).  Also scored 18 points on the road, including a buzzer-beating layup, to defeat Texas State again on Jan. 30.  He was efficient in that game as he shot 6-for-7 from the floor, and 4-for-5 from downtown.

Mississippi State (2019-20):  Suffered an injury prior to arriving on campus.  Averaged 1.0 points and 3.5 minutes per game in six appearances.

High School: (Stratford Academy) Two-time All-State selection by multiple outlets, and was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com.  Set a single-season school record with 28.0 points per game as a senior.  Averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 boards, and 3.5 assists per game as a junior on his way to being named region player of the year.  Played with Team Georgia Magic on the AAU circuit.

Personal: Born in Macon, Georgia.  Parents are Derex and Latashia Butts.  Enjoys shopping, watching movies and tv shows, spending time with his family, and sleeping.  Also enjoys singing.  Majoring in Kinesiology at NCCU.
