Biography
2015: Played and started 24 games before injury. Started 25th game on Senior Day before being replaced before first pitch. Drove in seven RBI and scored 11 runs over 82 at bats. Went 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored at UNC Wilmington (March 4). Drove in three RBI against Charleston Southern (March 11) going 2-for-5 with a double and one run scored.
2014: Redshirted. Earned All-MEAC Academic honors for the third consecutive year.
2013: Named to All-MEAC Academic team. 2013 MEAC All-Tournament Team Member after going 5-for-14 (.357) at-the-plate with his first career home run, three runs scored and seven RBI. Led the nation during the regular season after getting hit-by-a-pitch 28 times. Was second on the team in On-Base percentage (.427), second in runs scored (34), fourth in hits (46), second in RBI (36), tied for second in home runs (1), tied for third in total bases (54), third in walks (213), and tied for first in sacrifice bunts (6), and first on sacrifice flies (4). Recorded 10 multi-hit games including three games with three hits, and seven with two hits. Went 3-for-3 with a RBI on Feb. 17 against NJIT, 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in the 9-8 win over St. Augustine’s, and was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, and two RBI in the upset victory over nationally-ranked Campbell. Went 4-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Virginia State. Had a six-game hitting streak from April 3 to April 7. Had 11 RBI over the final seven games of the season.
2012: Nominated for All-MEAC, All-State (NCCSIA), and ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) All-Atlantic Region. Earned MEAC All-Tournament team honors when he led NCCU batting .417 (5-for-12) with a double, a triple, three runs scored and four RBI. Finished second on the squad with a career high 44 RBI and also ended his second season at NCCU No. 2 in batting finishing the year .313. Second on the roster with 55 hits. Ripped his first career triple on May 10 in the historic first win over Campbell. Third on the team in runs scored (36), tied for third in doubles with (9), third on the team with a .417 on-base percentage, tied for second in triples (2), second in total bases with 68, and was No. 1 on the roster after getting hit-by-a-pitch 19 times. Second on the team with 19-multi hit games including five games with three hits. Second on the team with 14 multiple RBI games including four games with three RBI and two with four RBI (Feb. 25 vs. NJIT, April 28 at Savannah State). Ended the year with a five-game hitting streak and reached base over the final 14 games of the year. On April 29 at Savannah State went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI. April 14 vs. NC A&T was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBI. In MEAC play, batted .317 in 23 games recording 26 hits with 24 runs scored, two doubles and 28 RBI only striking out six times in conference play.
2011: After playing five of the first six games at second base moved to third base where he made his home at the hot corner from day one. Played and started in 43 of the 46 games. Recorded at least one hit in 29 games and from April 16 to April 23 had a seven-game hitting streak. Finished his rookie season at NCCU with 43 hits which was good enough for third on the team and led the Eagles with 11 doubles on the year. Ended the year fifth on the roster with 16 RBIs. Third on the team in runs scored with 24, third on the squad with 54 total bases. No. 1 on the team after getting plunked by a pitch 10 times. His first collegiate hit at NCCU was an RBI double, and his best game of the season came on March 26 against Delaware State where he went 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs. Ended his first year in maroon and gray with at least one double in three consecutive games and was 6-for-11 (.545) with an RBI and four runs scored in the final series of the year against Texas Southern University. Tied with three other members of the team with 10 multi-hit games that included 7 two-hit games and 3 three-hit contests. Two of those three-hit affairs came at the end of the season when he went 3-for-4 at Savannah State on April 23 and 3-for-4 against Texas Southern on April 29
High School (Loyola Bakersfield H.S.): Ended a four-year varsity career batting .407 for the Dons with an on-base percentage of .452 and a slugging percentage of .593.
Personal: Born Oct. 20, 1992, in Rochester, N.Y. Troy Phillip Marrow is the son of Glenn and Lynne Marrow. Majoring in Sports Management at NCCU.
