Biography

As a Senior (2012-13)
Named Second Team All-MEAC for the second consecutive year, earned All-Tournament team honors in the 2012 Global Sports Hoops Showcase in Laramie, Wyo. where he scored 20 points in back-to-back games for the Eagles. Started in all 31 contests in his senior season and averaged 31.2 minutes per game. Averaged 12.0 points a game and grabbed 4.5 boards a contest as well. Scored in double figures in 19 games including a season-high 26 points in a crucial road win over Bethune-Cookman where he was 13-for-13 at the foul line. Scored 20 or more points on four occasions. Tied for No. 15 in the MEAC in scoring (12.0 points per game), and second in the league in free-throw percentage (84.0 percent). Finished his career with the highest free-throw percentage since the 2002-03 season when Shawn Ray shot 83.2 percent (124-for-149). Of the Eagles who have made over 220 free throws, Willis currently holds the highest career percentage from the foul line shooting 81.0 percent (270-of-333). Went perfect from the foul line in 12 games. Hit at least one three-pointer in 17 games including a 3-for-4 effort at Wyoming (Nov. 14), and 3-for-7 at home against Coppin State (Jan. 26).

As a Junior (2011-12)
Named Second Team All-MEAC, Earned MEAC Player of the Week on two occasions (Nov. 27 and Feb.6). Ended the 2012 season third on the team averaging 14.6 points a game. Finished seventh in the MEAC (14.6 pts a game), No. 13 in assists (2.7 per game-87), sixth in the conference in free-throw percentage (79.4%- 170-for-214). Made the most free-throws at NCCU (170-for-214, 79.2%) since the 1985-86 season when Willie Jennette shot (175-for-221, 79.2%). From Feb. 4 till Feb. 22 went 41-of-42 (97.6%) from the foul-line, including 21 consecutive in a three-game span. Was the only non-forward in the MEAC’s top-15 in Blocked Shots recording 23 (0.7 per game) to sit No. 13 in the league. Also No. 13 in the conference averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. Scored 20-plus points on seven occasions including a career-high 28 points at home against Delaware State on Jan. 28. Recorded four double-doubles on the season that included his outstanding 25 points 10 rebound effort on the road against Florida A&M. In conference play, averaged 15.8 points and 7.1 rebounds a contest. Shot (15-for-46) 32.6 percent from three-point range to help lead the Eagles to a 10-6 mark in league action. Started out his NCCU career scoring in double figures in his first eight ballgames, 12 of his first 13. From Jan. 9 to Feb. 22 scored in double-figures in 12 straight ballgames. Recorded at least one rebound in all but one game to end the season second on the team with 179 on the year. Hit at least one three-pointer in 13 games including 4-for-7 (57.1%) against Maryland Eastern Shore, and 3-for-6 (50.0%) in the season finale at Hampton. Started in 31 of the 32 contests and averaged 32.4 minutes a game. Shot 43.2 percent from the field (137-for-317).

University of Oklahoma (2008-10)

As a Sophomore (2009-10)
Played in 13 games averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per contest. Made two starts (Jan. 27 vs. Iowa State and Feb. 13 at Oklaoma State). Shot .250 from the field, .316 from 3-point range (6-for-19) and .750 from the free throw line (6-for-8). Scored a season-high eight points in 17 minutes against Gonzaga (Dec. 31). Registered seven points and five rebounds in 19 minutes the following game versus Maryland Eastern Shore (Jan. 4). Contributed six points and career highs of seven boards and three assists in a career-high 32 minutes versus Iowa State (Jan. 27). Grabbed a team-high seven rebounds at Oklahoma State (Feb. 13).

As a Freshman (2008-09)
Played in 16 of team's 36 games averaging 3.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per contest. Shot .372 from the field, .333 from 3-point range (7-for-21) and .778 from the free throw line (14-for-18). Boasted team's second-highest scoring average when projected to 40 minutes per game (20.6 points). Scored a season-high 14 points in 15 minutes in season's second game against Mississippi Valley State. Netted 13 points and grabbed five boards against Maine (Dec. 10). Registered 10 points and a season-high six boards versus Coppin State (Jan. 3). Made two 3-pointers against Gardner-Webb, Maine and Coppin State. Played in just two of team's final 16 outings (both in NCAA Tournament).

High School (Westlake H.S.)
Attended Atlanta's Westlake High School as a senior. Ranked No. 61 in the 2008 recruiting class by Scout.com and No. 109 by Rivals.com. Earned first-team Class AAAA all-state honors. Averaged 27.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in 2007-08. Led Westlake to a 25-7 record and to the state tournament semifinals. Set a school record for most times scoring at least 30 points in a season (eight). Single-game career high was 38 points. Named to the Atlanta Tipoff Club's All-Metro Team. Participated in Georgia North/South and Atlanta City All-Star Games. Named MVP of the Peach State Holiday Classic. Served as team captain. Attended Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Fla., his first three years. Averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as a junior for 25-7 Panthers ... Coached at Westlake by Darren Rogers. Helped Dr. Phillips to a Class 6A state runner-up finish (lost 80-77 in overtime to Blanche Ely High School in state title game). Was a first-team All-Metro Conference selection and a second-team All-Central Florida pick as a junior. Coached by Anthony Long at Dr. Phillips.

Son of Shiwila Willis and Raymond Brennam and was born Sept. 13, 1989 in Tulsa, Okla. Teamed with Mississippi's Chris Warren (2008 SEC All-Freshman Team) at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. Major is Psychology.
