Biography
Career: Named MEAC All-Rookie in 2017-18, and appeared in 109 games with 84 starts. Compiled 528 career assists, and has the second-most all time in a career at NCCU. Became just the third Eagle to reach 400 career assists on Jan. 20, 2020 against Florida A&M, and the second to reach 500 on Feb. 1, 2021 against South Carolina State. Dished out 190 assists in his freshman year to rank for the fourth-most in a single season at NCCU. Averaged 4.8 assists and 6.3 points per game with an average of 25.6 minutes per game.
As a Senior (2020-21)
Started all 14 games for the Eagles, and averaged 24.0 minutes per game. Ranked fourth in the MEAC with 4.2 assists per game, and in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.8. Ranked top-15 in the league in steals with 1.2 per game. Scored 5.6 points per outing and shot 49.1 percent from the floor. Nearly collected a double-double with 10 points and nine assists against Carver (Jan. 29), and scored a season-high 12 points against Southern (Nov. 26). Dished out nine assists in consecutive games against Carver and South Carolina State (Feb. 1). Pulled down a season-best nine boards against North Carolina A&T (Feb. 24). Preseason Second Team All-MEAC.
As a Junior (2019-20)
Appeared in all 31 games with 25 starts, and averaged 28.8 minutes per game. Served out 154 assists to average 5.0 per game, and now has the second-most career assists at NCCU with 469. Ranked second in the MEAC in assists per game, and assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.8. Dished out 5.6 assists per game against MEAC competition, and averaged 7.4 points per game during those competitions. Contributed 6.8 points per game over the season, and shot 45.9 percent from the floor. Tied his career-high in scoring with 17 points in the quarterfinal of the MEAC Tournament against Delaware State on March 11. Played a career-high 42 minutes in an overtime win at Maryland Eastern Shore with a season-high nine assists and 10 points on Jan. 13. Preseason Third Team All-MEAC.
As a Sophomore (2018-19)
Appeared in 29 games with 20 starts, and averaged 21.0 minutes per game. Ranked sixth in the MEAC with 4.3 assists per game, and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.0. Averaged 3.7 points per game and shot 31.6 from the floor. Dished out a team-high 125 assists, including a season-high 10 helpers against Maryland Eastern Shore on February 9. Scored a season-high 15 at Howard on February 18. Recorded a team second-most 25 steals. Preseason Second Team All-MEAC.
As a Freshman (2017-18)
Named MEAC All-Rookie. Appeared in all 35 games and started 25, averaging 27.3 minutes per game. Averaged 8.3 points and finished second in the MEAC with 5.4 assists per game, and a 2.0 assist to turnover ratio. Shot 44.0 percent from the floor, 38.9 percent from the perimeter, and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. Collected his first career double-double at Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 12) when he put up a career-high 17 points with 10 assists. Had another double-double when he dished out a career-high 14 assists with 13 points against Howard (Feb. 19).
High School (Greensboro Day):
Won the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A State Championship with Greensboro Day School. The Bengals went on to compete at the DICK’s National Tournament, where he put in 14 points while going 3-for-5 from the perimeter in a quarterfinal upset over IMG Academy on the national stage.
Personal: Born October 5, 1998 in Greensboro North Carolina. Parents are Reggie and Lisa Perkins. Enjoys playing video games and hanging out with his friends and family. Majoring in sports management with a concentration on business at NCCU.
