Biography
As a Redshirt Senior (2015-16)
Appeared in and started 11 games before injury, and averaged 21.1 minutes per game. Averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. Led team in scoring once with 15 points against Allen (Nov. 16) when he added 11 boards for a double-double, and led team in rebounding twice with a season-high eight caroms.

As a Redshirt Junior (2013-14)
Scored in double-figures 12 times during the regular season including his best performance at Savannah State where he poured in a season-high 17 points and pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds giving his fourth career/season double-double. Earned his first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Defensive Player of the Week honors (Monday, Jan. 20). In three games during the week, he led the maroon and gray averaging 12.3 points a game, 8.7 rebounds, shot 60 percent from the field, recording two blocked shots and two steals as NCCU went 3-0 on the week. Copeland also recorded two double-doubles on the week beginning with Monday’s (Jan. 13) 64-49 league win over Bethune-Cookman with 16 points and 10 boards and 13 points and 10 rebounds in the 71-55 victory over NJIT (Jan. 18). He led NCCU in scoring and rebounding at B-CU (Jan. 13) scoring 16 points and collecting ten rebounds, while he also led the Eagles on the boards during 10 additional match-ups in the regular season. Finished the regular season ranked 13th in the MEAC in rebounds with 5.9 rpg and second in the league in offensive boards with 2.9 rpg.
As a Redshirt Sophomore (2012-13)
Played in 27 games, starting 26 in his first season at NCCU where he averaged 7.3 points a game, and 4.4 rebounds per outing. Scored in double-figures six times including a season-high of 18 points in the 2012 Global Sports Hoops Showcase against SWAC Champion Southern (Nov. 16). Followed that up with a 17 point performance on 8-of-11 shooting in a win over Toccoa Falls. Nearly had his first career double-double against arch-rival NC A&T after grabbing a season-high 10 rebounds and scoring nine points in the huge road victory. Missed five games due to injury but came back to still average 22.1 minutes a game. Maintained a spot for most of the season in the MEAC’s Top-10 in field goal percentage ending the year shooting 57.6 percent from the field (72-for-125). Scored in double-figures in three straight games (10 points vs. Howard (Jan. 21), 17 points vs. Coppin State (Jan. 26), and 10 points vs. Morgan State (Jan. 28). Scored at least two points in every game. Shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field ended up with 11 points in a win over Utah Valley at home on Nov. 27. Grabbed five or more rebounds in 11 games.
Prior to NCCU:
Freshman (2010-11) (Ball State University)
Was limited to seven games in his freshman season, missing the rest of the year due to an illness that sidelined him. Played a total of 37 minutes recording five rebounds and shooting 0-for-1 from the field.
High School (King’s Fork H.S.)
Four-year letterwinner at King's Fork High School for coach Josh Worrell. Guided King's Fork to an 85-19 record during his four years, including a 76-10 record as a starter his last three years. Named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region as a senior when he averaged 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. Earned Third Team All-State accolades. Led the Bulldogs to the Southeastern District championship as a senior and a 24-3 record ... Guided King's Fork to the Eastern Regional Quarterfinals before being upset in triple overtime. Led the Bulldogs to the Virginia AAA State Championship as a junior. Averaged 12.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game per game while King's Fork posted a 31-1 overall record. cored a team-high 10 points in the state championship game as King's Fork knocked off William Fleming. Averaged 10.0 points and 10.0 rebounds as a sophomore while helping the Bulldogs win the district tournament. Played AAU basketball for Team Virginia for seven seasons. Helped the team finish runners-up in the state tournament in the U-17 season. Also lettered in volleyball for one season.

Full name is Samuel Martin Copeland Jr. Born on August 7, 1992 and is the son of Samuel and Lisa Copeland and has one sister, Samitria. Majoring in computer information systems at NCCU.
