Derrick Mallison enters his second year with the program, now as the Video Coordinator after spending last season assisting the Director of Basketball Operations. 

As Video Coordinator, Mallison will be in charge of preparing the video scouting reports along with film exchange among other day-to-day duties within the program.

In his first season at NCCU, Mallison assisted in coordinating team travel, team equipment and the day-to-day operations of a program that tied a school record in wins (28), the most games in a season for any squad in MEAC history, and was the lowest seed for any league champion in the NCAA Tournament as NCCU earned a 14-seed in the East Region.  NCCU finished 15-1 in (conference play) 28-6 (overall) and earning the school’s first Division I regular season title and won 20 straight contests, which set a new NCAA Division I level record for the program. 

Mallison served as a basketball operations intern for ScoutsFocus, a National Showcase and Scouting Service for a year. His responsibilities included conducting player evaluations, player registration, managing merchandise sales, games scheduling, and film editing. 
 
While working for ScoutsFocus, Mallison worked as an assistant coach/scout for Cardinal Gibbons High School varsity men’s basketball team in Raleigh, NC.

Mallison graduated cum laude from NCCU in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a marketing concentration.  Mallison is currently working on a Master’s of Business Administration.
