Chris Skinkis joined NCCU in 2014 after spending three seasons as the assistant coach for Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Known to be a relentless recruiter, Skinkis had three recruiting classes at Indian Hills that produced 23 players to the NCAA Division I level. Indian Hills was ranked No. 1 in the country each year Skinkis was on staff.
During Skinkis’ tenure on staff at IHCC the Warriors amassed a 93-11 record.
In the 2013-2014 season Indian Hills played in the National Title game in Hutchinson, KS. Skinkis was responsible for recruiting and scouting as well as player development.
Skinkis, a native of Seymour, Wisconsin, was an assistant coach at the College of Eastern Utah before arriving at IHCC. Eastern Utah is a member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference, one of the toughest junior college conferences in the country. Eastern Utah was 23-8 in Skinkis’ only season at the school.
Before going to Utah to coach, Skinkis was an assistant coach at Lewis University in Illinois for two seasons. He was also at St. Norbert College in his home state of Wisconsin for two years.
The Seymour, Wis. native received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2006 where he majored in Sports Management and was a student assistant basketball coach. He holds a master’s degree from Lewis University that he received in 2010.
