Biography
As a Redshirt Senior (2020-21)
First Team All-MEAC. NABC Second Team All-District, BOXTOROW First Team All-American, and HBCU All Star Award recipient. Appeared in all 14 games with nine starts, and ranked seventh in the MEAC with 31.0 minutes per game. Finished second in the league in scoring with 16.6 points per game, and was 10th in field goal percentage at 45.8. Ranked top-15 in the league with a 69.1 percent free throw rate. Earned MEAC Player of the Week honors on Dec. 1 after averaging 24.0 points and shooting 58.1 percent (18-for-31) from the floor and 57.1 percent (4-for-7) from the arc in games against Iowa and Southern on back-to-back days on Nov. 25 and 26. Scored a career-high 33 points against Southern in an overtime win. Scored in double-figures in all 14 games. Preseason First Team All-MEAC.
As a Redshirt Junior (2019-20)
Third Team All-MEAC. Missed time due to injury and illness, but appeared in 23 games with nine starts, and averaged 25.7 minutes per game. Scored 11.6 points per game over the season, and 15.8 points per contest in MEAC games. Shot 56.8 percent from the floor, and 39.5 percent from the perimeter against MEAC opponents with 3.3 rebounds per game. Had a 51.6 success rate from the field over the season, and shot 41.5 percent from the arc. Earned MEAC Player of the Week honors on Feb. 4 after scoring 23 points in back-to-back games against South Carolina State and Norfolk State while shooting 16-for-22 (72.2 percent) from the field. Scored a season-high 26 points in the quarterfinal round of the MEAC tournament against Delaware State, and shot 6-for-7 from the arc on March 11.
2018-19: Sat out due to NCAA transfer regulations.
Prior to NCCU:
Wichita State (2016-18): Played 43 games over two seasons, and totaled 78 points, 31 rebounds, 19 assists, and eight steals over 247 minutes. Shot 73.9 percent from the free throw line. Was a member of WSU’s 2017 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament championship teams, and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Scored a career-high 11 points against Tulane with a perfect 7-for-7 free throw performance during his sophomore campaign. Served up a career-high three assists against USF during the same season.
High School: Finished his prep career at Brewster Academy, and helped the Bobcats to a 25-9 record, a league championship and a trip to the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championships. Prior to that, he played Sunrise Christian Academy and was tabbed as a three-star recruit by both ESPN and Rivals, as well as a top-20 shooting guard by ESPN before reclassifying to the class of 2016. Was a team captain, and earned MVP honors from four tournaments as a senior.
Personal: Full name is Chadwick Keyser, Jr. Born February 6, 1997 in Baltimore, Maryland. Parents are Chadwick, Sr. and Tracey Keyser. Enjoys listening to music. Majoring in interdisciplinary studies at NCCU.
