Biography

2014: Named to All-MEAC Academic Team.  Earned Second team NCCSIA All-State honors.  Nominated for ABCA All-Atlantic Region and All-MEAC.  Finished his final year at NCCU with a .305 batting average that included 62 hits (Top 10 of MEAC) and led the MEAC with 49 runs scored.  Ended the season fourth in the conference in stolen bases going 18-for-19.  Racked up nine doubles, tied for a team-high three triples and finished with 18 RBI, and was plunked by a pitch 21 times to lead the squad as well.  Tied for No. 1 on the team with 18 multi-hit games and from March 2-April 5 recorded the longest hitting streak in the modern era with at least one hit in 20 straight games (Second in the nation during that time).  Recorded at least one hit in 41 games.  Went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI on the road at Presbyterian College on Feb. 19.  On Feb. 22 went 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored against Niagara.  In the final game of the series against arch-rival NC A&T, went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI as the Eagles took game three from the Aggies.  Went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored, and three RBI in the MEAC Tournament against Maryland Eastern Shore on May 15 as the Eagles ousted the Hawks 10-5.  Tied the modern era single season record with 203 at-bats (tying Akeem Hood), was second in runs scored with 49 (Olive Jenkins-54, 2007), tied teammate Tyson Simpson for the fourth-most hits in a season with 62, tied for third with 53 starts on the year, and was second in a single season with 21 HBP’s (hit-by-pitch). 


2013:  Played and started in 47 games, despite having his season cut short due to an injury.  Finished fourth on the roster with a .292 batting average, fourth in On-Base percentage (.360), third in runs scored (33), second in hits (52), second in hit-by-a-pitch (12), and third in stolen bases with 13.  Second on the team with 16 multi-hit games that included two three hit contests in his first year at NCCU.  His first three hit performance came on April 3 against Virginia State as he went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.  On April 20 against Savannah State went 3-for-5 at-the-plate.  Recorded at least one hit in 39 of 47 games plated.  In a doubleheader split against Florida A&M on April 27 went scored three runs, had three stolen bases, and was hit-by-a-pitch twice while playing on an injured foot.  Had a six-game hitting streak from March 12 to March 20 where he went 9-for-27 (.333) with a double, six runs scored, and two RBI.  Was 13-for-15 in stolen bases.

High School (Hunt H.S.):  Was a two-sport athlete with countless accolades including being a three-time all-conference player in baseball and he was also a three-time all-area football.  Played on the 2010 3A State Runner-Up squad.  In both football and baseball participated in the East/West All-Star Game.  Listed at No. 12 All-time in North Carolina High School Athletic Association history after recording 52 hits (52-for-109) in his senior season where he batted .477.  His squad made it to the 3-A State Championship series falling to East Rowan.  In 2012, he received the Trot Nixon Gamer Award at the Wilson Hot Stove Banquet.
