Biography

2020: Made four appearances with two starts.  Pitched 8.2 innings with eight strikeouts.  Threw a career-high five strikeouts in a start against Radford on Feb. 16.  Didn’t allow a run in two relief appearances, with a total of 3.0 innings pitched and one strikeout.

2019: Made six appearances with two starts.  Pitched 14.1 innings with nine strikeouts.  Made the longest outing of his career against NC State when he pitched 5.1 innings with four strikeouts on March 6.  Made two appearances without allowing an earned run. 

2018:  Redshirted.

2017:  Made 12 appearances and two starts, and pitched 17.0 innings.  Collected 11 strikeouts.  Got his first collegiate win as the pitcher of record at Savannah State when he threw 1.1 innings with just one hit.

High School (Weddington H.S.): Advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA 3A Playoffs in 2016.  Was also an All-Conference selection.

Personal: Born Sept. 3, 1997 in Bedford, Texas.  Parents are Adam and Tasha Penner.  Enjoys hunting, fishing, playing baseball and eating.  Has not decided on a major at NCCU.
