North Carolina Central University Athletics

2020: Made seven appearances in relief, and earned one win.  Pitched 6.1 innings with four strikeouts.  Made five appearances without allowing an earned run, and three without allowing a hit.  Picked up a win after pitching 1.2 innings with two strikeouts in relief at High Point on Feb. 25.

2019: Set a new NCCU modern-era single-season record with 29 appearances, and finished third in the MEAC in that category.  Had two wins and finished tied for fifth in the MEAC with a team-lead tying four saves.  Tied for the fifth-most saves in a single season at NCCU in the modern era.  Kept a staff-low ERA of 3.06 over 32.1 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts.  Matched a career-high with three strikeouts over three innings of relief against Florida A&M on March 31.   Made a career-long appearance of 3.1 innings with one strikeout against Florida A&M on May 5.  Made 21 appearances without allowing an earned run, and 11 without allowing a hit.  Made eight appearances without allowing a baserunner.

2018:  Made three appearances with two starts as a catcher, and also six relief appearances from the bullpen.  At the plate he went 4-for-5 with two RBI, three runs scored, and two walks.  Stole one base, and made 19 putouts with three assists without an error.  From the bullpen he pitched 5.1 innings with one strikeout.  Had his best game at the plate when he went 2-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk against NJIT (Feb. 25).  Made his longest relief appearance at Norfolk State (March 27) where he pitched 2.1 innings.  Named MEAC All-Academic.

2017:  Made 20 appearances with one start and was involved in one combined shutout.  Pitched 24.2 innings with 20 strikeouts and just eight walks.  Made 11 appearances without allowing an earned run, and six without allowing a hit.  Struck out a season-high three batters in his first career start against Norfolk State (April 26).  Finished the season by recording a strikeout in seven consecutive appearances.

High School (North Henderson H.S.): Was named 2016 Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year, and was a three-time All-Conference and All-Area selection.  Batted .377 with six doubles, one home run, and 24 RBI in his senior year.  On the mound he had a 4-2 record over 11 appearances, and kept a 1.68 ERA with 49 strikeouts and just eight walks.

Personal: Born May 29, 1998 in Sydney, New York.  Parents are Chris and Pam Decker.  Enjoys playing tennis and golf, eating sushi, and wants to be a sports therapist.  Majoring in exercise sport science at NCCU.
