Biography

2010: Battled a nagging wrist injury that sidelined him for the final 26 games of the season, but started 17 of the 21 games he participated in. Sported a .988 fielding percentage with 69 putouts along with 12 assists on the season. Went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI against Savannah State University on April 3. Five days later against Longwood University of April 8 going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Born April 23, 1989, in Burlington N.C. Parents are Robert and Dawn Grant. Major at NCCU is Physical Education.
Selected All-Conference in baseball. Earned All-Conference and All-Region honors in football.
Made 26 appearances and started 19 games, all at the catcher position as a freshman. Had eight hits in 49 at-bats with 1 home run and five RBI. Behind-the-plate, sported a .978 fielding percentage, tops one on the squad. Started season with a bang against Savannah State on February 24, going 1-for-2 with a two-run homer. March 4 against St. Augustine’s in a reserve role went 1-for-1 with a 2-RBI double. Got another RBI against Duke in reserve going 1-for-1.
Named to the 2009 NCAA Division I Independent Baseball All-Academic team with a 3.56 cumulative grade point average. Made 23 starts on the season along with playing in 27 contests primarily at the catcher position. Finished seventh on the team with a .233 batting average (14-for-60) with 8 RBIs on the year. Batted 7-for-23 (.304) with runners in scoring position. Tied for no. 1 on the team with 5 two-out RBIs. Tied with Robert Landis and Oliver Jenkins with 3 sacrifice bunts. Behind the plate threw out a team-high 13 runners. Fourth on the team with a .963 fielding percentage. Highlight game of the season came on March 10 vs. Coppin State going 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs for the Eagles in their 8-5 win. Went 4-for-8 in a three-game set at Savannah State (March 21-22) with an RBI. Got a hit in three of the last four contests with a double and 1 RBI. His leadoff double against UMES sparked a four-run fifth inning in NCCU’s 7-6 win.
